VGH is the quaternary care centre for trauma patients in the Province of BC, and as such, the nursing care is highly specialized. Working with nurse educators, the VGH Trauma program delivers additional education to the nurses working with trauma patients.
We work with our regional and provincial partners to ensure consistent best practice. We will also support educational initiatives across the health authorities and include nursing in some physician-directed courses.
Additional courses are provided through independent providers. These may include, but are not limited to EPICC-Trauma® (Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care - Canada) and TNCC® (Trauma Nursing Core Course). More information for these course can be obtained from their respective organizations.
