Preventable reminded people to be safe this summer
The Community Against Preventable Injuries (Preventable) launched two campaigns this summer.
The first campaign spread the word that drowning is no laughing matter. From August 11 to 13 the A-maze-ing Laughter statues at English Bay were given their own oversized personal flotation devices (PFD), reminding people that drowning can happen to anyone. In BC alone, there is an average of 53 deaths from drowning per year. The installation was picked up by Breakfast Television, Daily Hive, Global News, and Fairchild TV.
Preventable also reminded people to stay safe over the Labour Day long weekend by installing its giant banana peel in Olympic Village. Dr. Ian Pike and Jennifer Smith were interviewed by News 1130.
